Guide to Exploration by Age

  • Infant/Toddler: Bedtime Stories; Backyard Wildflower Bracelet; Outdoor Scavenger Hunt (Scavenger Hunt Worksheets are free and easy to make through Education.com)

  • PreK-K: Find the colors and animals on the page; Outdoor Scavenger Hunt; Backyard Wildflower Bracelet; Feathers and Sticks collecting (can be completed by size, color, amount, etc.)

  • 1st-4th: Participation in discussions as to ways Gaylord could have explored at home; Outdoor Scavenger Hunt; Collecting of nature and science discussion of those items (Are they used for shelter, for mobility, for food, etc.)

Activities for Home or Classroom

  • Take an outing to a park or outside for a scavenger hunt, nature collecting or I-Spy in Gaylord Style.  I-Spy jars are easy to make and interactive for PreK-K children.

  • Find "adventure" words in the dictionary and use them in a sentence (for 1st-4th grade).

  • Coloring Pages for PreK-K.

  • Word Searches for 1st-4th grade.

  • ​Have child/children finish sentences using exploration ideas (1st-4th grades).
